DSPL9 Triage Service

What we do:

The Triage Service aims to provide support to children, young people (0-25 years) and families in early years, schools, and colleges across Watford, Three Rivers, Bushey & Radlett.

The Triage Team is a service dedicated to supporting families, children & young people with special educational needs, disabilities, mental health & emotional well-being or complex needs, to access appropriate services with confidence (with or without diagnosis).  The support provided may be limited by county boundaries and those that fall outside the DSPL 9 local area.

Who we are:

Katherine McNamara -Specialist SEND (Parent & Carer) Liaison

Lisa Sillitoe – Specialist Transition Outreach

We Aim To:

  • Improve outcomes for holistic well-being and attainment
  • Improve access, inclusion and equality
  • Provide opportunities and choices for children, young people and parents/carers
  • Remove barriers and promote a positive life-long learning experience
  • Support pathways to access appropriate services and resources more effectively

How Will We Do This?

By offering an attentive and non-judgemental service that finds positive solutions to complex situations, the team provide consultations and considers service enquiries to support families, children and young people with high level, complex needs. We will initially apply a triage technique to identify appropriate services and organisations that will meet the identified needs within the DSPL 9 boundaries.

We also support schools, partner service and health professionals with advice, guidance, referral pathways and signposting.

Our service focus is to improve experiences and life choices for children and young people.

Service Enquiries are accepted from all professionals, parents, carers and young people.

Specialist Transition Support:

Within the DSPL9 team we have a Specialist Transition outreach worker. They offer 1:1 bespoke support for children in year 6 moving up to a community secondary school, who have (including their family), complex needs that require intensive involvement to ensure a successful transition.

To access this service, your child must be transitioning into a Watford & Three Rivers Community School, from a Watford & Three Rivers Primary School and not be in receipt of an EHCP.

Referrals are made by your child’s primary school and acceptance of referrals is at the discretion of the team.
